New Film for WestPack

OxiBio versions of the following

EZBANDER - HANDYWRAP - JUMBO ROLLS - LOGOFILM - LITEWRAPPER

Oxi Biodegradable (OBD) plastic is polyolefin plastic to which has been added very small (catalytic) amounts of metal salts. TheseBiodegradable films catalyze the natural degradation process to speed it up so that the OBD plastic will degrade when subject to environmental conditions to produce to water, carbon dioxide and biomass. The process is shortened from hundreds of years to months for degradation and thereafter biodegradation depends on the micro-organisms in the environment.

Known Facts about OXI-biodegradable Stretch Film:

  • Treated films will completely break down into CO2, trace elements and humus over time
  • Treated films provide identical functional performance to untreated films
  • OXI formulations engineered to begin the biodegradation process starting 2 years after date of manufacture (expiration date on packaging)
  • OXI stretch films are fully recyclable
  • All ingredients certified as acceptable for direct food contact by the FDA
  • Perfect solution for customers looking for an environmentally preferred solution at an affordable price

Customers want to conduct business with environmentally responsible companies.

OXI-biodegradable films are available in clear or tinted green

Degradation

Degradation is a process that takes place in all materials. The speed depends on the environment. Conventional polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastics will typically take hundreds of years to degrade. But oxi-biodegradable products utilize a prodegradant to speed up the molecular breakdown of the polyolefins and incorporate oxygen atoms into the resulting low molecular mass. This chemical change enables naturally-occurring microorganisms to consume the low molecular mass products as a food source, hence biodegradation.
